AHV Salmo PreHarvest is specifically designed to address the challenges of the growth phase of fish weighing over 3.5 kilograms, when the feeding rate is reduced, and traditional methods may no longer be feasible. It plays a crucial role in efficiently tackling biofilm related challenges in fish and enhancing the immune system function during the last months of production in seawater improving the overall well-being of the fish.
Why the AHV Salmo PreHarvest?
The months preceding the harvest of salmonids play a crucial role in reaching the optimal weight of fish and maximizing returns on investment. Therefore, it is very important to establish proactive measures to safeguard the health of the fish and tackle bacterial challenges that can cause mortalities, reduced animal welfare or an increase of production costs, especially when the failure of antibiotic treatment is related to fish weight, i.e., the bigger the fish the lower the probability of treatment success (Price et al., 2016). A bacterial outbreak can result not only in poor welfare and mortality, but it can also significantly compromise the quality of the final product resulting in huge economic loss for the producer.
Working mechanism and mode of action
AHV Salmo PreHarvest is specifically designed to address the challenges of the growth phase of fish above 3,5 kilos. It plays a crucial role in efficiently tackling bacterial outbreaks proactively in fish during the last months of the growth phase in seawater. It is designed with a unique combination of natural bioactive components that disrupt bacterial Quorum Sensing (QS) communication by blocking the development, attachment, and formation of biofilm. This QS interference with AHV Quorum Sensing Inhibition (QSI) disrupts the biofilm, leaving the bacteria unprotected for immune action.
In addition, AHV Salmo PreHarvest contains plant extracts that stimulate the immune system, helping the natural defences of fish to clear the released bacteria. Furthermore, our product helps improving gut integrity and tissue blood flow which are vital factors for the optimal growth performance and organs functionality.
How to use AHV Salmo PreHarvest
AHV Salmo PreHarvest is to be administered orally blended with the feed. Use proactively in fish above 3,5 kilos
during the critical period to minimize risk of bacterial outbreaks. Use 2-3 kg of the supplement per 1,000 kg of the final aquaculture feed formulation.
