AHV Salmo Sea Q
AHV Salmo Sea Q provides increased resistance to unfavourable bacteria. It prevents biofilm formation, and it enhances the immune system and well-being during local or systemic health challenges in fish.
Why the AHV Salmo Sea Q?
Outbreaks of bacterial diseases may cause high mortality, poor fish welfare, and economic losses in farms. Even though vaccines are available for some of the bacterial diseases, the effectiveness of these vaccines can vary (Figueroa et al., 2019) leaving the fish’s immune system as the only defensive barrier against infections. When the natural fighting system of fish is exhausted, antibiotics become the only viable alternative for controlling bacterial outbreaks and avoidance of mortalities (Rozas-Serri, 2021).
While antibiotics are often essential for restoring the health and welfare of populations, their use can have negative consequences on the environment. Furthermore, when not used properly, they can stimulate bacteria to form a biofilm, which acts as a protective layer (Kaplan, 2011). In a biofilm, bacteria can become resistant to antibiotics faster than freeliving bacteria (Richards & Melander, 2009).
Working mechanism and mode of action
AHV Salmo Sea Q has been developed to support the health of fish during the risk periods of the growth phase at sea. It combines natural bioactive components that effectively disrupt bacterial Quorum Sensing (QS) communication by blocking the development, attachment, and formation of biofilm. This QS disruption causes the biofilm to break open leaving the bacteria unprotected for the immune system.
Additionally, AHV Salmo Sea Q contains plant extracts that stimulate the immune system, enhancing its natural defense mechanisms to effectively clear the released bacteria. Furthermore, it optimizes tissue blood flow, contributing to the overall well-being of the fish.
How to use AHV Salmo Sea Q?
AHV Salmo Sea Q is to be administered with the feed. Use during high-risk periods for at least 4 weeks (to start at least one week before the expected risk period and continue for 3 weeks) or as part as a proactive strategy during the whole production cycle at intervals of 3-4 weeks, every 4 weeks to reach the maximum support for the health and performance.
AHV Salmo Sea Q is available in 10kg bags
