French Dairy Farm: ‘GAEC KREIS KER’ manages their herd health in a different way with AHV.

The dairy farm has 3 partners and one employee with about 120 Prim’Holstein cows milked in a conventional system. The use of the AHV programmes on the farm has allowed them to change the way they manage their herd health.

“We have always been curious about trying new things and we got to know AHV last March through word of mouth. You have to try it to make up your own mind.”

On the farm, the farmers use the Udder Health and Energy Programme for dairy cows, but also the AHV solutions for calves. With a passion for genetics and a real desire to optimise the longevity of their herd, the farmers provide all the necessary care to optimise the health of their animals.

The results with AHV solutions

“The AHV programmes have allowed us to change the way we manage the health of the herd and to act in a more natural way. We try to do things as well as possible, whether it’s for the quality of our milk or meat, and that’s part of it too.”

The implementation of the AHV programmes

Udder challenges are managed with AHV products: AHV Extra, AHV Quick and AHV Aspi. This allows the cow to defend herself.

At each milk recording, the progress of each cow is analysed in order to know where to administer the products.

The calf programme has optimised their efficiency and the calves are vigorous.

This programme has complemented all the changes that have been made since 2013 by the breeders with regard to the calves: the management of colostrum; the introduction of milk powder, water available from birth, and more.

With the AHV Energy Programme, old cows or cows that have had a difficult calving are drenched directly at calving with the AHV Booster Drench. “We can be assured that this will give them a boost,” says Vincent Guiavarc’h.

“The AHV approach is new, so we have been closely monitoring our cows. And once we understood the approach, it has worked very well.”
