One year old breeding bulls look good and healthy with AHV Booster
Sam Dupont from South Timaru buys 1 year old Jersey bulls at 90-100 kg in the spring (Sept-Oct) from a friend. He feeds them PKE plus 30% molasses, lucerne and grass to grow them to over 100 kg and get them ready for mating the tail end of the dairy herds. Sam had 60 of these bulls this year and after a (very) wet winter, they looked crook and had dull coats. Sam was not sure how many of his 60 1 yr old bulls would make it into the paddock with the cows for mating.

At that time, AHV Territory Manager James Davies visited Sam’s farm and recommended to give these bulls an AHV Booster Bolus. These boluses support the rumen and liver in turning feed into energy, and stimulate eating and rumination. After the AHV Booster Bolus he saw the bulls get better and also saw good improvement in the coats of the bulls. In the end 58 were used for breeding cows via agents (of the other 2, one was lame and another one was Holstein type so not suitable). The stock agents mentioned that Sam’s bulls compared to other bulls looked good and healthy. The AHV Booster Boluses keep their impact for approx. 2 months.

Sam has all his bulls returned in early January and they are all back on his farm’s pasture. They came back in great condition and Sam plans on keeping them in that condition into the winter months and onto the next breeding season (see photo). Sam: ‘ I have no complaints, my bulls responded really well and I would say to bull breeders that the AHV Booster Boluses are worth a try!’.
