AHV’s unique health approach has already helped more than 10,000 farmers worldwide to optimise their animal health. Our mission is to help farmers grow independently through innovations in animal health. With our customised solutions, service and advice we give farmers control over their animal health and business results.
Protocol poster for dairy cows
AHV develops solutions for the most common challenges in animal health. Healthy cows are the basis of sustainable and profitable dairy farming. We have developed cow health solutions that are divided into udder health, energy and metabolism, transition, uterine health and feet programmes.
Over the past year, an AHV protocol poster has been developed for dairy cows. With the help of this poster, dairy farmers can independently and easily see which steps they can best take and which AHV products they can use.
Healthy calves are an investment for the future
Healthy calves are an investment for future high-yielding dairy cows, as well as for maintaining a healthy dairy farm. The calf’s potential as a dairy cow is determined by its growth and development in the first phases of life. Calves that grow into high-yielding, longer-lived dairy cows easily recoup their rearing costs. Our calf rearing approach focuses on following protocols to monitor and support the health of your calf’s respiratory system, digestive system and resistance.
Protocol poster for calves
The calf protocol poster consists of four programmes focused on the first year of life of the calf. The calf poster contains a timeline that focuses on the period neonatal, postnatal, pre-weaning and post-weaning. The corresponding programmes cover digestion, respiratory tract, immunity & general support and skin and hygiene. Each programme has different phases, aimed at proactive and reactive support.
“We want to help dairy farmers as much as possible and make them independent. The protocol poster for calves ensures that the dairy farmer has something on hand to guide them. This also gives the farmer confidence,” says Samantha Kietzman, AHV NZ Technical Support Lead North Island.
“Take the respiratory programme as an example. Proactively, we recommend giving 5 grams of AHV Respi through the milk twice a day. In case reactive support for the respiratory tract is needed, we advise to use 10 grams of Respi through the milk twice a day, combined with the AHV Calf Bolus, AHV Aspi Liquid and AHV Booster. All this information can be found on the calf protocol poster, but of course the farmer can always call us.”
